Sebastian Ruiz Among 6 Hurt in Oakdale Crash on Highway 108/120 near Lancaster Road

Oakdale, California (September 8, 2022) – Sebastian Ruiz, 20, of Sonora, sustained major injuries in a two-vehicle collision on Wednesday night near Oakdale, the California Highway Patrol said.
At about 9:20 p.m. on September 7, Catherine Mae King Velvetrose, 17, of Mountain House, was reportedly driving a 2004 Chevrolet SUV west on Highway 108/120 when she swerved partially into the eastbound side and crashed head-on into an eastbound 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup driven by Ruiz.
The accident happened just east of Lancaster Road.
Ruiz was trapped in his vehicle and was extricated by emergency crews. He was airlifted to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries.
One of the passengers in the pickup was transported by ambulance to Oak Valley Hospital with minor injuries.
Three other passengers in the pickup were airlifted to Modesto trauma centers for treatment of major injuries.
Velvetrose sustained minor injuries and was taken to Oak Valley Hospital in Oakdale.
Authorities said alcohol and drugs were not believed to be factors in the incident.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
