Avondale, AZ – Two teenagers were killed early Saturday morning after a police chase ended in a fiery accident in Avondale, according to the police.

Phoenix police said at around 1:30 a.m., they attempted to stop a vehicle near 91st Avenue and Buckeye Road. The driver of the vehicle, 18-year-old Sergio Lara-Garcia, failed to stop and sped away. He got onto I-10 and the police followed the car with their helicopter.
Lara-Garcia entered the intersection, where he lost control while passing over the railroad tracks and crashed into a small market. The vehicle caught fire, which spread to the market. Firefighters stopped the fire before it destroyed the entire building.
Lara-Garcia and his passenger, 16-year-old Julian Lugo-Estrada, were taken to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The police are investigating the accident.
