, California (September 23, 2021) – A female driver died after being struck by a vehicle shortly after she was involved in a single-vehicle crash late Wednesday night in the Serra area of San Diego, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly accident happened shortly before midnight on Wednesday, September 22, on the northbound side of , just south of Murray Ridge Road.

The CHP said the woman was driving her vehicle on Interstate 805 when, for unknown reasons, she crashed on the highway.

The woman then got out of the vehicle and was hit by a passing vehicle.

The woman died in the crash. Her name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash told the CHP that she swerved in an attempt to avoid debris but ended up hitting the woman who had exited her car.

According to the CHP, an arrest has been made in the case.

The crash remains under investigation.
