Sesar Diaz-Ruvalcaba Arrested after Chico Car Crash on West 8th Street and Broadway
Chico, California (September 15, 2022) – Sesar Diaz-Ruvalcaba, 25, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after being involved in a crash that injured a Chico police officer on Thursday morning in Chico, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.
The wreck took place in the area of West 8th Street and Broadway just before 5 a.m.
According to the report, Officer Juan Valencia, 24, of the Chico Police Department, was westbound at the intersection on a green light when the vehicle he was driving was hit by a southbound 2013 Nissan driven by Diaz-Ruvalcaba.
Authorities said Diaz-Ruvalcaba failed to stop for a red light and collided with the officer's vehicle.
Officer Valencia was hospitalized with minor injuries following the incident.
Diaz-Ruvalcaba was arrested on suspicion of DUI causing injury.
The CHP is investigating the incident.
