Five Hurt in Ventura County Accident on Highway 118 at Balcom Canyon Road
Ventura County, California (April 21, 2022) – Several people were injured in a head-on collision in Ventura County on Thursday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The wreck happened on Highway 118 near Balcom Canyon Road at around 5 p.m.
CHP said a Ford Expedition SUV and a Mazda sedan collided head-on on the highway for unknown reasons.
Multiple Injuries Reported in Ventura County Car Accident
At least one person was trapped in the wreckage and was rescued by first responders.
A mother and her child were flown to Los Robles Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
A third patient with serious injuries was transported by ambulance to Los Robles.
Two other patients with minor injuries were taken to Adventist Health Simi Valley hospital.
Lanes were blocked on Highway 118 for at least one and a half hours as crews worked to clear the scene.
The CHP is investigating the incident.
