4 Injured, 2 Hospitalized after Shasta County Collision on Highway 44 near Deschutes Road

Shasta County, California (August 29, 2021) – Four people were injured Monday evening in a traffic collision involving four vehicles east of Redding in Shasta County, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The wreck happened at about 5:45 p.m. Monday, August 23, on Highway 44, just west of Deschutes Road.
According to the CHP, a 2013 Kia was traveling westbound on Highway 44 when, for undetermined reasons, the driver allowed the vehicle to cross over the double yellow line into the eastbound lane and collided with an oncoming 2013 Honda.
The Kia then spun out of control in the road and was hit by a 2013 Honda. The force of the impact split the Kia in half.
A 2017 Subaru traveling behind the Honda failed to avoid the collision and acquired minor damage.
4-Car Crash on Highway 44 in Shasta County
The drivers of the Honda and the Kia sustained moderate injuries and were transported to a local hospital.
The drivers of the Subaru and the Toyota suffered minor injuries. The names of the patients and their current conditions were not immediately disclosed.
Intoxication was not considered a factor in the collision, which remains under investigation.
