, California (February 8, 2022) – Several people were injured Tuesday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash in Sonora, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The 1:08 p.m. crash happened on at Old Sonora Columbia Road.

CHP said a 1987 Pontiac Fiero slammed into the rear end of a silver Lexus ES 300 stopped due to road construction on Highway 49.

The Lexus then collided with an Subaru AWD Crosstrek. After the impact, the Lexus flipped on top of both vehicles.

The male driver of the Pontiac suffered minor injuries. The female driver of the Subaru refused medical transportation and sought her own treatment.

Two Columbia College students who were in the Lexus complained of back pain after the crash. Both were not hospitalized.

Tow trucks were requested to the scene to remove the damaged vehicles.
