Man Killed in South Bay Pedestrian Accident on Transition Ramp from Interstate 805 to State Route 54
San Diego County, California (August 28, 2021) – A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle late Friday night in the South Bay, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly accident happened a little after 11:00 p.m. Friday, August 27, on the transition ramp from northbound Interstate 805 to eastbound State Route 54.
A witness told the CHP that a suspected homeless man was standing next to the lanes on the ramp when, for unknown reasons, a vehicle hit him.
Deadly Pedestrian Accident in South Bay
The man died in the crash. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
The accident prompted the authorities to temporarily close the transition ramp.
No other details were immediately released.
