Steven Pruitt Arrested after Fatal Upper Lake Accident on Nice Lucerne Cutoff Road

Lake County, California (September 23, 2021) – Steven Michael Pruitt, 35, of Lakeport was arrested after a deadly DUI collision that happened Wednesday morning in Upper Lake in Lake County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident took place at about 7:26 a.m. September 22, on Nice Lucerne Cutoff Road, just west of Rodman Slough.
CHP said Pruitt was driving a dark blue Chevrolet Camaro westbound on the Nice-Lucerne Cutoff when he drifted across the double yellow lines, for unknown reasons, and collided head-on with an oncoming light green Honda Civic.
Steven Pruitt Arrested after Deadly Upper Lake DUI Crash
The driver of the Honda, who was not immediately identified, died at the scene of the accident.
Pruitt was arrested on charges of DUI causing injury and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. He was booked at the Lake County Jail and his bail set at $1 million.
The CHP is investigating the crash.
