Joseph Lewis Hospitalized after Stevinson Car Crash at 3rd Avenue and Edminster Road
Stevinson, California (October 11, 2021) – Joseph Lewis, 50, of Turlock, was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries following a Sunday afternoon collision at an intersection in Stevinson, Merced County, the California Highway Patrol said.
The major injury crash happened in the area of 3rd Avenue and Edminster Road at about 1:50 p.m. October 10.
The CHP established that a 2000 GMC Sierra was traveling south on Edminster when it was struck by a 2002 Dodge Caravan that was traveling east on 3rd.
The police believe that the GMC driver, 31-year-old Mario Alberto Hernandez, of Stevinson, failed to stop at a posted stop sign and struck the Dodge. The impact of the collision caused the Dodge to overturn.

Lewis was driving the Dodge and was airlifted to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment of major injuries.
Hernandez was not injured in the collision and was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence
No additional information about the accident was provided.
The accident is currently being investigated.
