2 Killed in South Los Angeles Crash Involving Stolen Amazon Truck at 48th Street and Main Street

Los Angeles, California (February 18, 2022) – Two people including a street vendor died after being struck by a stolen Amazon truck on Thursday afternoon in South Los Angeles.
The double-fatal crash happened at East 48th Street and South Main Street at around 2:15 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
An Amazon truck driver was making deliveries when he left his truck unattended at Woodlawn Avenue and 41st Place when the suspect got behind the wheel and took off.
The driver contacted the authorities who were later able to track down the truck about 10 minutes later.
Officials say the suspect lost control in the area of 48th and South Main Street and struck a street vendor and three people on a sidewalk.

The street vendor was pinned against a wall of a building and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A pedestrian also died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The suspect, 37-year-old Cristian Ramos Sanchez, attempted to flee the scene on foot but was arrested for felony hit-and-run among other charges.
More details about the crash were not available.
The LAPD is investigating the crash.
