Sumer Cheever Seriously Injured in Del Rio Car Crash on Highway 108(Patterson Road) at Skittone Road

Del Rio, California (December 14, 2021) – Sumer Cheever, 27, of Modesto, was seriously injured after being involved in a deadly car crash Tuesday morning in Del Rio.
The crash happened at around 9:43 a.m. at Highway 108/Patterson Road and Skittone Road, just north of Modesto and west of Riverbank.
The California Highway Patrol said a Honda sedan, driven by Oakdale resident Brandon Garcia-Castro, was heading westbound on Patterson Road while a white Ford SUV, driven by Kolleen Jackson, 68, of Riverbank, was traveling behind the Honda.
The Honda then stopped to turn left onto Skittone Road. Jackson reportedly swerved to the left to avoid the collision but ended up hitting the back of the Honda.
Due to the impact, the Ford rotated clockwise and flipped onto its left side, entering the opposite lane. A green Chevrolet SUV, driven by Sumer Cheever, 27, of Modesto, slammed into the right side of the Ford as it was overturning.
Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash in Del Rio
Jackson, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, died in the crash.
Cheever was transported to Doctors Medical Center with major internal injuries while her passengers, Joseph Aldaz, age 3, Vanessa Aldaz, 2, and Sophia Aldaz, 6 months, were also taken to area hospitals for precaution. The medical personnel determined that the children were not injured.
Garcia-Castro sustained minor injuries and sought his own aid.
All parties were wearing their seat belts when the accident happened. It's undetermined whether alcohol and/or drugs were factors in the crash.
