Reports indicated Mario Alberto Ortiz, 53 of Salem Millard was crossing the intersection within the marked crosswalk when Ortiz initiated a left turn hitting her.
Salem, OR. – The police identified 67-year-old Teresita Telesfora Millard as the pedestrian killed after a Wednesday morning crash at an intersection in Salem.
According to the Salem Police Department, the accident was reported at Lancaster Drive and Wolverine Street at around 11:40 a.m. on August 14.
Reports indicated Mario Alberto Ortiz, 53 of Salem Millard was crossing the intersection within the marked crosswalk when Ortiz initiated a left turn hitting her.
Millard was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where she died three days later.
Ortiz stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. He was initially cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, having no operator's license, and driving uninsured.
The crash remains under investigation.
