WSP said Gadd was on patrol searching for DUI motorists when a speeding SUV traveling southbound went off the roadway and struck the parked patrol car

Marysville, Wash. – The Washington State Patrol trooper killed in an accident on Interstate 5 near Marysville early Saturday morning has been identified as Christopher M. Gadd, 27, of Pasco.
According to the WSP, the incident occurred shortly before 3 a.m. March 2, near 136th Street North.
WSP said Gadd was on patrol searching for DUI motorists when a speeding SUV traveling southbound went off the roadway and struck the parked patrol car.
The SUV also collided with another car with six occupants.
Gadd was killed in the accident.
The driver of the second car that was struck was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
A 32-year-old Lynnwood man was placed under arrest for vehicular homicide following the accident.
The investigation is ongoing.
