, California (November 18, 2021) – A died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in Turlock Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

The deadly pedestrian accident occurred shortly before 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 17, on Lander Avenue near Bernell Avenue.

According to the authorities, the pedestrian, a 66-year-old woman, was walking across the street inside a designated crosswalk when she was hit by a GMC Sierra that was heading northbound on Lander Avenue.

An off-duty nurse responded to the scene and provided medical aid to the woman until authorities arrived.

The woman sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Her name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The GMC driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with the police. The vehicle was later towed for evidence.

The roadway was blocked for more than three hours during the investigation. Alcohol and/or drugs were not considered a factor in the crash.
