Long Beach, Calif. – Two oil field workers injured in an accident in Long Beach, according to Long Beach Fire Department Monday afternoon.
Authorities said the collision happened at around 2:08 p.m. in the 6600 block of East Pacific Coast Highway.
Reportedly, the worker was on the derrick about 50 feet above the pumping unit, strapped inside a steel cage when a work-over unit that collapsed into a pumping unit.
The man was extricated from the derrick and was transported to a hospital in critical condition for treatment.
Another second person was also hospitalized with minor injuries.
No more information about the wreck was provided.
A investigation is underway.
