The collision happened north of Highway 127, involving a Budget rental truck and another vehicle

Baker, Calif. – Two people died, and three others were critically injured in a two-vehicle collision that happened early Friday morning near Baker, the California Highway Patrol said.
The collision was reported around 4:09 a.m. on the northbound 15 Freeway near mile marker 142, north of Highway 127.
CHP – Barstow Office said a Budget rental truck collided with another vehicle under unclear circumstances.
In total, six people were involved in the accident.
Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene by San Bernardino County firefighters.
The firefighters requested three helicopters to airlift three other victims who were critically hurt. The freeway was shut down in all directions to allow the air ambulances to land near the crash scene.
The status of the sixth person remained unknown.
A lot of debris from the crash scattered across traffic lanes.
CHP officers are investigating the accident.
