Unborn Child Killed, Mother Seriously Injured in Crash on Dry Creek Road in Rio Linda

, California (September 18, 2022) – Authorities are investigating a Friday night Rio Linda traffic accident that killed an unborn child and left six other people injured, including the unborn child's mother.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers were responding to a report of a sideshow near Elverta Road at Dutch Haven Boulevard at around 9:11 p.m. on September 16.

Over 100 vehicles and people were reportedly blocking the intersection. When the CHP officers tried to stop a Honda Accord driven by a 17-year-old teen, the teen fled from the area, leading to a pursuit with the officers.

The teen failed to stop for a red light at the intersection of Dry Creek Road and Elkhorn Boulevard and collided with a vehicle operated by the pregnant woman.

The pregnant woman was seriously injured in the accident and was taken to a hospital, where she sadly lost her unborn child. A passenger in the woman's vehicle was hospitalized with moderate injuries.

The four occupants of the Honda were taken to a hospital for treatment. The 17-year-old teen was later arrested and booked into the Juvenile Hall for charges related to the chase and injury crash.

Authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.

An investigation into the incident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

Rio Linda, California (September 17, 2022) – Authorities are working to determine what caused a multi-vehicle collision that injured several people in Rio Linda on Friday night.

According to the Metropolitan District, the incident happened in the area of Dry Creek Road and Elkhorn Boulevard at about 9:46 p.m. on September 16.

Several vehicles collided in the area, and one person was trapped in one of the involved vehicles.

Firefighters who responded to the scene extricated the trapped victim.

Six people were injured in the collision.

There was no update on the condition of those injured.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
