Desert Hot Springs, Calif. – Three people were injured, one seriously, after two vehicles collided head-on at an intersection in Desert Hot Springs, according to Desert Hot Springs Police.
According to the police, the crash happened at about 5:20 p.m. Friday, December 29, in the area of Pierson Boulevard and Little Morongo Road.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a gray Hyundai Sonata, operated by a 73-year-old, was traveling westbound on Pierson Boulevard, approaching the stop sign-controlled intersection at Little Morongo Road. At the same time, a blue Chevrolet Silverado HD driven by a 46-year-old, was eastbound on Pierson Boulevard, just east of Little Morongo.
The Hyundai then entered into the eastbound lanes and collided head-on with the Silverado. The 73-year-old Hyundai driver was found unconscious. The driver was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Silverado and a 46-year-old passenger had complaints of pain and were also taken to the hospital.

The accident occurred around 5:20 p.m. on December 29, in the area of Pierson Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue.
According to Cal Fire, two people were injured in the crash. Both patients were taken to the hospital, one with serious injuries and one with moderate injuries.
The area of Pierson Boulevard and Atlantic Avenue in Desert Hot Springs was shut down for several hours while Desert Hot Springs Police and Cal Fire worked at the scene.
An investigation to determine the cause of the crash is underway.
