Oxnard, CA. – 44-year-old Antonio Rodriguez died ten days after he was hit by a vehicle while riding a bicycle near an intersection in Oxnard's La Colonia neighborhood, authorities reported.
The Oxnard resident died Monday at Ventura County Medical Center where he was receiving treatment after the crash that happened around 7:55 a.m. December 13 at First Street and Roosevelt Avenue.
According to the Oxnard Police Department, Rodriguez was riding a fixed-gear bicycle without brakes when he was hit by a 2022 Toyota Camry driven by a 20-year-old Oxnard resident.
Emergency personnel responded and transported Rodriguez to the hospital with critical injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The driver of the car stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Oxnard, CA.– A 44-year-old man sustained major injuries when he was struck by a vehicle in Oxnard on Friday morning, according to a report by the Oxnard Police Department.
The incident took place in the area of First Street and Roosevelt Avenue at about 7:55 a.m.
Police reported that a man was riding a bicycle without brakes westbound on First Street when he was hit by a 2022 Toyota Camry heading north.
The rider, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from his bike by the impact of the collision.
The bicyclist, only identified as a 44-year-old man from Oxnard, was rushed to Ventura County Medical Center with critical injuries.
The driver of the Toyota, a 20-year-old Oxnard resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The investigation is ongoing.
