Update: Authorities Release Name of Texas Man Killed on I-405 near Carson Weigh Station

Carson, Calif. – The Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner identified Francisco Mora, 46, of Brownsville, Texas as the man killed in a big rig crash on 405 Freeway in Carson Friday night.

Authorities responded to the mishap at around 11:20 p.m. on January 26 on the northbound near the weigh station between Boulevard and Main Street.

Mora was pronounced dead at the crash site.

 

Carson, Calif. – A 46-year-old man from Brownsville, Texas, died after colliding with a big rig exiting the (405) Freeway into the Carson Weigh Station Friday night, authorities said.

The wreck occurred around 11:20 p.m. in the northbound lanes between Avalon Boulevard and Main Street.

According to CHP, the Texas man was driving a 2019 Buick Encore when he slammed into the back of a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia driven by a man from Durham, North Carolina. At the time of the accident, the big rig was slowing in the exit lane to go to the weighing scales.

Both vehicles came to a stop blocking the right two lanes of the freeway, with the Buick wedged underneath the big rig trailer.

The driver of the Buick was pronounced dead at the scene.

CHP officers are investigating the collision.

Los Angeles, Calif. – One person was killed in a collision involving a semi- on Friday night near Carson in south Los Angeles.

The collision was reported around 11:24 p.m. on Interstate 405 Freeway near Del Amo Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A sedan is reported to have crashed into a semi-truck in unclear circumstances. The sedan became stuck underneath the big rig after the collision.

CHP says one person was killed in the accident.

The name of the deceased person was not immediately disclosed.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
