According to authorities, a patrol vehicle was traveling westbound on Niles Street when a car heading northbound failed to stop for the stop sign at Kern Street and collided with the police car.

Bakersfield, CA. – 3-year-old Jeremiah Hernandez was hospitalized with severe injuries after a car accident that also killed a woman in Bakersfield.
26-year-old Krystal Rubi Reynaga of Wasco died in the crash that happened around 5:40 a.m. on October 13 at Kern and Niles streets.
According to authorities, a patrol vehicle was traveling westbound on Niles Street when a car heading northbound failed to stop for the stop sign at Kern Street and collided with the police car.
The driver of the civilian vehicle was ejected and killed in the crash.
Reynaga, who was a passenger in the front seat, was taken to Kern Medical, where she later died from her injuries.
Jeremiah was taken to Children's Hospital in Madera with severe injuries.
A GoFundMe page was created to help raise funds to offset costs following Reynaga's death. According to the page, Jeremiah was in stable condition.
The officers in the patrol car suffered minor to moderate injuries.
Investigators are looking into whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.

Bakersfield, CA. – Krystal Reynaga has been identified as a woman killed in a traffic collision at an intersection in Bakersfield Sunday morning.
The mishap was reported at around 5:40 a.m. October 13 at Niles Street and Kern Street.
The BPD said a patrol vehicle was headed westbound on Niles Street when a northbound car failed to stop for a stop sign and crashed into the patrol vehicle.
The motorist died at the scene, while Reynaga, who was a front passenger, was rushed to the hospital and was declared deceased.
A 2-year-old child remained hospitalized.
The wreck remains under investigation.
