Fresno County, CA. – The family of a man who died in a suspected DUI accident Saturday night in Fresno County identified him as 27-year-old Eli Abram Lopez.
24-year-old Jesus Zeferino was arrested for DUI following the deadly accident.
The fiery crash occurred around 11 p.m. at Manning Avenue and Hill Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Lopez was driving a Honda with a female passenger when they stopped at a stop sign near the intersection.
Police said Zeferino was driving behind the Honda and failed to slow down and crashed into the Honda's back before hitting one other vehicle. The Honda caught on fire after the impact.
Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lopez's passenger was hospitalized with major injuries.
According to the deceased's family, their son was driving to Orange Cove to drop off his girlfriend after she had just met his parents for the first time and had dinner at the family Taco Truck. His family had visited him from their home in Guatemala.
A GoFundMe account was opened to help raise funds to fly his body out to Guatemala.
Authorities said two occupants in the second car hit by the DUI suspect are expected to be okay.
Zeferino suffered minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and felony vehicular manslaughter. Three other men in his vehicle were hospitalized with unknown injuries.

Fresno County, CA. – A man was killed and several other people injured in a suspected DUI accident in Fresno County on Saturday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened on Manning and Hill avenues at about 11:00 p.m. October 19.
The CHP said a 24-year-old man was driving a vehicle on Manning Avenue when he crashed into a vehicle stopped at a stop sign at the intersection.
The stopped vehicle caught fire after the crash and the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A woman in the stopped vehicle was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.
After the initial collision, the 24-year-old driver crashed into another car at the intersection.
The 24-year-old driver was treated for minor injuries.
He was then arrested in suspicion of DUI.
Three passengers in his vehicle were also transported to the hospital.
No further details were released.
The crash is under investigation.
