Hesperia, CA. – 22-year-old Martin Emilio Camino Constante has been identified by the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department Coroner as the pedestrian who was fatally struck by a co-worker on Friday near Oak Hills in Hesperia.
The Fontana man was involved in the crash around 6:22 p.m. near Caliente Road and Oak Hill Road, adjacent to Interstate 15.
According to investigators, Constante and his two co-workers were traveling in a box truck on I-15 when they decided to pull off the freeway and take a break.
As they prepared to resume their journey, the driver was unaware the victim was near the truck and accidentally ran him over.
Emergency personnel responded and pronounced Constante dead at the scene. He leaves behind his wife, his 3-month-old baby, his father, mother, brother and sister.
The driver and the other co-worker stopped and remained at the scene.
The driver is suspected of being impaired at the time of the accident.
Contante's family opened a GoFundMe account to help raise funds for his funeral expenses.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
