Apple Valley, CA – 39-year-old Matthew Hicks of Apple Valley died after his motorcycle collided with a minivan Saturday evening on Highway 18 at Quinnault Road, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said.
A child was also airlifted to the hospital after the collision that took place around 6:10 p.m.
Authorities said Hicks was riding a 2006 Kawasaki Ninja eastbound on Highway 18 when he collided with a 2016 Toyota Sienna minivan turning left from northbound Quinnault Road to westbound Highway 18.
Emergency personnel took Hicks to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The minivan was occupied by six people, including a child, at the time of the accident. The juvenile was airlifted to a trauma center, and the other five occupants were taken by ground ambulance to local hospitals. The victims sustained unspecified injuries.
Investigators shut down Highway 18 for about three hours following the collision.

Apple Valley, CA. – A motorcycle rider was killed in a traffic collision on State Route 18 in Apple Valley Saturday evening.
According to the authorities, the wreck happened at around 6:12 p.m. on April 20 on Highway 18 and Quinnault Road.
Reportedly, a white minivan carrying several children inside collided with a motorcycle at the intersection in unclear circumstances.
The unidentified rider was pronounced dead at the crash site.
One juvenile was airlifted to an out-of-area trauma center for treatment.
