The female cyclist was hit while riding her bicycle in a crosswalk at Fitzgerald and Erringer roads
Simi Valley, Calif. – Authorities identified the woman who died in a bicycle versus SUV accident Thursday afternoon at an intersection in Simi Valley as 45-year-old Patricia Cooper.
According to the Simi Valley Police Department, the cyclist died at the scene of the collision that happened around 1:45 p.m. at Fitzgerald Road and Erringer Road.
Police said the Simi Valley woman was riding a bicycle west on Fitzgerald when a 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 traveling southbound on Erringer hit her in the crosswalk.
Emergency personnel pronounced Cooper dead at the scene.
The SUV driver did not suffer any injuries.
Authorities said alcohol or drugs did not appear to be factors on either party.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.

Simi Valley, Calif. – A 45-year-old woman died Thursday afternoon after she was struck by a vehicle while riding her bicycle at an intersection in Simi Valley, according to a police report.
The deadly bicycle accident happened at the intersection of Erringer Road and Fitzgerald Road early Thursday afternoon, December 28.
According to Simi Valley Police Department, preliminary investigations showed the bicyclist was going westbound on Fitzgerald Road in the southern crosswalk when she was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Erringer Road.
Authorities said the woman sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name was withheld pending notification to the next of kin.
SVPD said an investigation into the crash is underway adding that drugs and/or alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
