Oceanside, CA. – 20-year-old Xander Allen Thorstad has been identified as an US Marine corps killed in a crash on Douglas Drive in Oceanside a week ago.
The CHP said the crash was reported in the 600 block of Douglas Drive near North River Road at around 7:51 p.m. on July 7.
Thorstad was driving an Indian motorcycle southbound on Douglas Drive when a northbound Volkswagen sedan made a left turn maneuver crossing the decedent's path of travel, causing them to collide.
Thorstad was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation is ongoing.

Oceanside, CA. – A 20-year-old active-duty U.S. Marine was killed following a deadly crash on Sunday night in Oceanside, according to the Oceanside Police Department (OPD).
The accident happened at the intersection of Douglas Drive and N River Road at about 7:50 p.m.
ODP officials said a motorcycle and a white Volkswagen sedan collided. The Volkswagen was turning left from northbound Douglas Drive into the AMPM gas station when it hit the right front fender of the motorcycle heading southbound on Douglas.
The rider, a 20-year-old Marine, was thrown off his bike following the collision. He was declared dead at the scene.
His name was not immediately released awaiting notification of family.
The Volkswagen driver, a 64-year-old woman from Carlsbad, was not injured. She stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Officers confirmed the Volkswagen driver was not impaired at the time of the collision.
Police blocked all southbound lanes of Douglas Drive temporarily following the accident. One lane remained closed to give way to an on-scene investigation as of 10:30 p.m.
