1 Dies, Another Hospitalized after Upper Lake Car Crash on Highway 20 near Scotts Valley Road
Upper Lake, California (April 6, 2022) – One person died, and another was airlifted to the hospital after a head-on collision that occurred Wednesday afternoon near Upper Lake in Lake County, the California Highway Patrol said.
A pickup truck and a sedan were involved in the accident which was reported at around 3:15 p.m. on Highway 20, just east of Scotts Valley Road.
First responders found the vehicles blocking the roadway.
One person was declared dead at the scene.
At about 3:45 p.m., Northshore Fire medics requested an air ambulance to respond to Sutter Lakeside Hospital to airlift a patient to an out-of-county trauma center. The victim sustained unspecified injuries.
At around 4 p.m., police officers closed the highway in both directions following the wreck. All lanes were reopened at about 6 p.m.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
