19-Year-Old Ventura County Man Killed in North County Crash on Interstate 5 near Basilone Road
North County, California (September 24, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Wednesday morning big rig accident that killed a 19-year-old Ventura County man near San Onofre State Beach in North County.
The deadly accident transpired at about 5:00 a.m., on September 22, on Interstate 5 near Basilone Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Hyundai sedan driven by the Ventura County man was headed southbound on the roadway when, for unknown reasons, it crashed into the back of a big rig.
Man Killed in Interstate 5 Crash
The man was injured in the accident and was flown to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
It was not clear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the mishap.
The crash remains under investigation.
