Antioch, CA. – 50-year-old Victor Vigil died in a head-on collision that happened late Tuesday night when he was evading police officers in Antioch, authorities reported.

According to the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office, deputies attempted a traffic stop on Vigil around 9:20 p.m. in the area of Willow Avenue and E. 18th Street in Antioch, but the driver did not pull over.
The deputies initiated a chase.
Authorities said during the chase, Vigil crossed over the center median and started driving against oncoming traffic, prompting the deputies to end the pursuit.
A few minutes later, the California Highway Patrol received reports of a collision in the area.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and found the wrong-way driver involved in a collision with at least three other cars.
Reportedly, Vigil's vehicle collided head-on into a car, and at least two other vehicles were involved in the pileup.
Vigil was killed in the accident.
Three other people suffered unknown injuries.
The roadway was closed into Wednesday morning following the incident. All lanes were back open at around 6:25 a.m.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Antioch, CA. – One person died in a wrong-way collision that happened Tuesday night on a transition road in Antioch, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The accident transpired around 9:23 p.m. on the eastbound State Route 4 to the southbound State Route 160 connector road.
Three vehicles were involved in the accident. One of the vehicles overturned onto its roof.
Reportedly, one of the cars was traveling the wrong way and caused the crash.
One person was killed in the accident, the report said.
Authorities are investigating the collision.
