Victoria Cardenas Hospitalized after Accident on US 60 near Ironwood Avenue in Mesa
Mesa, AZ. – 26-year-old Victoria Cardenas was critically injured in a traffic collision Monday afternoon on Highway 60 in Mesa.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety the crash occurred October 28 on State Route 60 near Ironwood Avenue.
According to a preliminary investigation, a pickup truck carrying a flatbed full of long metal pipes reportedly lost control, jackknifed, and then swerved across the median into oncoming traffic, slamming into Victoria's car.
Cardenas was rushed to Desert Banner Medical Center in critical condition and is said to be in coma.
The police said the driver of the truck has been cited for failing to control his vehicle to avoid a collision and not wearing a seatbelt.
More details regarding the mishap were not provided.
An investigation is underway.
