58-Year-Old Vista Man Killed in Bonsall Car Crash on Old River Road near Bonsall Elementary School
Bonsall, California (October 29, 2021) – A head-on collision has claimed the life of a 58-year-old Vista man Friday morning in Bonsall, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The collision occurred at around 11:45 a.m. on 31555 Old River Road near Camino Del Rey and Bonsall Elementary School.
CHP said the Vista man was driving a Honda Civic westbound on Old River Road when, for unknown reasons, the Civic drifted into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with an oncoming Ford F-350 driven by a 60-year-old Escondido man.
The driver of the Honda was trapped inside the car.
North County Fire Protection District firefighters responded to the scene. The firefighters administered CPR to the trapped man as others were attempting to free him from the wreckage.
Unfortunately, the driver died at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of relatives.
The Ford driver did not suffer injuries in the collision.
The crash left Old River Road closed for an unknown period.
