Vivian Gong Hurt in Morro Bay Accident on Highway 1 and San Luisito Creek Road

Morro Bay, California (February 28, 2022) – Vivian Young Gong, 66, of Morro Bay was seriously injured in a deadly collision that took place near Morro Bay on Saturday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident took place on Highway 1 at San Luisito Creek Road around 6:20 p.m. February 27.
CHP said John Ruxton Carroll Jr., 71, of Turlock, was driving north on Highway 1 when he stopped on the left turn lane at San Luisito Creek Road.
Carroll made a left turn and was struck by a vehicle driven southbound on the highway by Paul Daniel Gendron, 50, of Visalia.
Gendron's vehicle was then hit from behind by a vehicle driven by Gong, CHP said.

Gong and the other parties involved in the accident were taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center with major injuries and a Turlock woman, who was a passenger in Carroll's vehicle, was pronounced deceased.
The southbound lanes of Highway 1 were closed for hours as crews worked to clear the scene.
The incident is under investigation.
