Quincy, California (June 2, 2022) – Walter Bunning, 74, of , was airlifted to a hospital after being involved in a motorcycle crash on Saturday afternoon in Quincy, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The wreck happened on Forest Service Road 28N03 shortly after 1 p.m. on May 28.

According to the CHP report, Bunning was riding a 2020 BMW motorcycle northbound on Forest Service Road 28N03 at an unsafe speed when he collided with a 2005 BMW motorcycle stopped in the roadway.

Bunning had tried to avoid the crash by drifting to the right but the left side of his motorcycle collided with the right side of the second motorcycle. He then continued heading north and overturned onto the east side of the roadway.

CHP said Bunning was flown to Renown Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.

The second motorcyclist, identified as Wynne Benti, 65, of , was ejected from her motorcycle but was not injured in the accident.

The CHP is conducting an investigation into the collision.
