Driver Killed in Wasco Car Crash at North Palm Avenue and Taussig Avenue

Wasco, California (December 14, 2021) – A 26-year-old Wasco resident was killed Tuesday morning in a traffic collision involving two vehicles north of Wasco, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The deadly crash happened shortly before 6:00 a.m. just south of the intersection of N Palm Avenue and Taussig Avenue and north of the Wasco-Kern County Airport.
According to the CHP, a sedan was heading northbound on Palm Avenue when for an unknown reason, the vehicle drifted onto the right shoulder.
The sedan driver then overcorrected to the left and spun into the southbound lane directly into the path of an oncoming pickup truck driven by Cale Austin Rogers, 35, of Wasco.
Deadly Car Crash in Wasco
The driver of the sedan, whose name was being held pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rogers did not suffer any injuries.
The accident prompted the authorities to temporarily close the roadway.
The roadway was wet due to heavy rain in the area, the CHP said. Alcohol and/or drugs were not considered factors in the crash.
No further details about the crash were immediately provided.
The accident remains under investigation.
