Sacramento, CA. – 29-year-old William Gonzalez died, and another person was hospitalized with major injuries after a truck hit a tree early Sunday morning in Sacramento.
The wreck was reported around 4:20 a.m. on southbound Interstate 5 south of Florin Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash involved a 2024 Penske truck driven by a 36-year-old man. Gonzalez was a passenger in the vehicle.
Investigators said the truck was heading south on the freeway at an unknown speed when, for an unknown reason, the driver made an unsafe turning motion and veered off the roadway.
The truck hit a tree, ejecting Gonzalez.
Emergency personnel pronounced Gonzalez dead at the scene.
The driver was hospitalized with serious injuries.
CHP officers are investigating the cause of the collision.
