Santa Clara County, CA – A woman was killed and another person was injured California Highway Patrol confirmed at least one person has died in a car crash on Monday afternoon.
According to the CHP, the deadly crash happened at about 12:45 p.m. on April 29, on Highway 25 and Bloomfield Avenue just outside of Gilroy, and involved a blue Honda Elantra and a red tractor-trailer Freightliner.
As per the CHP, a 48-year-old man was driving a Freightliner northbound on Highway 25 approaching Bloomfield Avenue and was traveling at about 40 miles per hour.
A woman was driving the Hyundai westbound on Bloomfield Avenue approaching the intersection with Highway 25.
Police say the woman tried to turn left onto Highway 25 when she collided head-on with the tractor-trailer.
The woman was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP officials said.
The tractor-trailer driver suffered minor injuries in the incident.
The crash remains under investigation.
