Authorities said the pedestrian was crossing southbound in a crosswalk when she was hit by a 2018 Nissan Kick traveling westbound on Imperial Avenue.
San Diego, CA. – A 50-year-old woman walking in a crosswalk was hit and killed by a driver who ran a red light at an intersection in San Diego's Encanto neighborhood.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred in the 6300 block of Imperial Avenue at 63rd Street.
Authorities said the pedestrian was crossing southbound in a crosswalk when she was hit by a 2018 Nissan Kick traveling westbound on Imperial Avenue.
The 49-year-old woman driving the car reportedly ran a red traffic signal prior to the accident.
The victim died at the crash scene.
The driver is not suspected of impairment. It was not clear if there were any charges filed against her.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
