Woman Hospitalized After San Diego Crash on Coronado Avenue at Hollister Street

San Diego, California (August 11, 2022) – A female driver was hospitalized after she collided with a sheriff's deputy responding to an emergency call Wednesday afternoon in San Diego, authorities said.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, the deputy was driving his patrol car east on Coronado Avenue with his lights and siren on.
At around 5:15 p.m., the deputy stopped at the intersection of Coronado Avenue and Hollister Street and a 5 Freeway off-ramp and saw that motorists were yielding to him. He then drove through, but a white Ford Mustang pulled off the off-ramp.
The deputy struck the Mustang's passenger side.
The woman driving the Mustang said she hurt her back. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The deputy was not injured, but his car was towed away with crash damage.
Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs were contributing factors.
