34-Year-Old Woman Killed, Five Hospitalized after Oakland Collision on Grand Avenue
Oakland, California (October 25, 2021) – A three-vehicle collision has claimed the life of a woman and left five other people injured early Sunday morning in the Grand Lake neighborhood in Oakland, according to police.
The deadly crash occurred at around 2:02 a.m. Sunday, October 24 in the 3300 block of Grand Avenue.
Authorities said a 2018 Toyota Prius entered Grand Avenue from the east side of the road and tried to go southbound on Grand Avenue when it was hit by a northbound 2020 Audi Q5.
The Toyota then collided with a 2015 Mazda CX53 that was traveling southbound on Grand Avenue.
Grand Avenue Collision Kills 1, Injures 5
The driver of the Toyota, a 34-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
A passenger in the front seat of the Toyota, a 33-year-old woman, was transported to a local hospital in critical but stable condition. Another passenger in the Toyota, a 30-year-old man, was also hospitalized with minor injuries. All occupants of the Toyota are non-Oakland residents.
The driver of the Audi, a 33-year-old Oakland woman, and his passenger, a 33-year-old woman, who is a non-Oakland resident, were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Mazda, a 25-year-old man, who is a non-Oakland resident, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.
Authorities believe alcohol played a role in the collision, which remains under investigation.
