, Calif. – Authorities identified the cyclist who died in a DUI accident Monday night in northwest Fresno as 53-year-old Michelle Cruz.

Police said the crash occurred just after 10 p.m. near Polk Avenue and Fairmont Avenue.

Cruz was riding her bicycle in the area when she was hit by an SUV.

The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene after failed resuscitation attempts by responding emergency personnel.

The SUV driver, identified as Jennifer Fleishman, 23, was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Court records indicate Fleishman has a history of traffic violations, including speeding and DUI.

An investigation is ongoing.
