For unknown reasons, the driver of the Kia veered off the right of the roadway, slamming into the parked truck

Bakersfield, CA. – An 85-year-old woman was killed and a 62-year-old man injured in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 58 in Bakersfield Thursday afternoon.
According to a police report, the incident happened on State Route 58 near Washington Street at around 12:19 p.m. on March 28.
Reportedly, the 85-year-old woman from Lake Isabella was driving west on Highway 58 in a Kia Sorento. At the same time, the 62-year-old man from Bakersfield was stopped on the right shoulder of the highway in a Ford F-250.
For unknown reasons, the driver of the Kia veered off the right of the roadway, slamming into the parked truck.
The Lake Isabella resident was pronounced dead at the scene while the man was taken to a hospital with minor injuries for treatment.
Alcohol and drugs were not believed to be the cause of the collision.
The name of the deceased was not immediately disclosed.
More details about the wreck were not provided.
An investigation is underway.
