Yakima County, WA. – A 49-year-old woman was hospitalized with severe injuries after a bicycle accident that happened in Yakima County on Tuesday night.
According to the Yakima Police Department, the collision happened in the 800 block of South 16th Avenue near Saint Helens Street.
A 59-year-old man was driving a car southbound when he struck a female bicyclist who was riding alongside another rider.
The woman sustained major brain injury and collapsed lungs.
Police say the woman was rushed to a nearby hospital before being transported to Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle.
The driver of the involved car remained at the scene after the crash and was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
