A stairwell collapsed at a construction site in the 200 block of West Olympic Boulevard

Los Angeles, Calif. – A worker was seriously injured when a stairwell collapsed Thursday morning at a construction site in downtown Los Angeles, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. in the 200 block of West Olympic Boulevard.
Los Angeles firefighters responded to the high-rise construction site and found a worker trapped in debris after the stairwell collapsed.
The man was freed and taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
No other person was injured.
It was not clear why the stairwell collapsed, but an investigation into the accident is ongoing.
