Xueqi Li ID'd as Bicyclist Killed in Collision with Azusa Police Motorcycle Officer at Cienega Avenue and Sunflower Avenue in Covina
Covina, California (February 3, 2022) – The Los Angeles County Coroner's Bureau has identified the bicyclist who died after being struck by an Azusa Police Department motorcycle officer in Covina as Xueqi Li, 67.
The deadly accident occurred at about 9:30 p.m., on February 1, at the intersection of Cienega Avenue and Sunflower Avenue.
According to the officials, an off-duty Azusa Police motorcycle officer was heading eastbound on Cienega Avenue when he struck Li, who was riding his bicycle in the area.
Bicyclist Killed in Covina Crash Identified
Li and the 63-year-old officer were transported to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, where Li later succumbed to his injuries. The officer had moderate injuries.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the crash.
Traffic on the roadway was stopped for an unknown period due to the accident.
