Yuba City Man Killed, 1 Seriously Injured in Gridley Crash on Highway 99 near E. Evans Reimer Road
Butte County, California (January 24, 2022) – A two-vehicle collision has claimed the life of a 23-year-old Yuba City man Sunday morning south of Gridley and left one other person seriously injured, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The tragic accident occurred at around 6:47 a.m. Sunday, January 23, on Highway 99 just north of E. Evans Reimer Road.
According to the CHP, a 23-year-old man was driving a black Nissan Sentra southbound on Highway 99 when, for unknown reasons, he allowed the vehicle to cross into the northbound lane directly into the path of a semi-truck.
The driver of the semi-truck tried to swerve out the way but ended up colliding with the Nissan.
Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 99 in Butte County
A passenger in the Nissan died in the crash. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
The Nissan driver sustained major injuries in the crash.
The operator of the semi-truck did not suffer any injuries.
